Pepsi and Dance: A Marketing Tool Then and Now!

Pepsi's most memorial encounter with using a dance icon as apart of its marketing campaign came in 1984 with Michael Jackson's advertisement for Pepsi in which the singer's hair caught on fire during filming.

An extended cut of Nicki Minaj's Pepsi commercial landed online this weekend, and a remix of the rapper/singer's "Moment for Life" provides the soundtrack to a video that features a couple quite literally living in a series of frozen moments.

Check out Michael's Commercial: WE LOVE YOU RIP :(

Nicki's  enhanced commercial features numerous flashmob scenes captured and then sped up at the end to reflect the meaning of the songs and lyrics and is Pepsi's attempt to reassociate itself with pop culture now in 2012.

Flash Mob Dance!

Ever heard of a Flash Mob Dance? Its when crowds of people get together a perform a routine in the middle of the street, mall, without any rehearsal! Its like a song starts playing and everyone just knows the routine! I've seen this in New York City mainly and a version of this was performed in the movie "Friends with Benefits" with Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis.

Todrick Hall is another youtuber that caught Beyonce's eye with his flash mobdance of Beyonce's End of Time single in Target.

Beyonce was so inspired, she personally thanked Todrick for the tribute and met him personally. Another way of using technology to bring celebrities and their fans closer together!

More Beyonce! Tofo Tofo with Beyonce: Inspiration behind “Girls Run the World Video”

How many of you saw this video and wondered who the only guys were surrounded by females footworking in the beginning of thevideo? Well so did Beyonce who loved the moves too! The choreography itself was inspired by Mozambican kwaito dance group Tofo Tofo. Beyonce saw a video the group posted on youtube, loved their amazing and original dance style and flew the guys all the way out to be apart of her music video for Girls Run the World.  So as you can see technology is truly amazing….it brings you that much closer to your favorite celebrities. Check out the dance inspired moves of Tofo Tofo.

                         Now see Beyonce footworking it

Wobble

I first saw the Wobble on this youtube video performed by the Queen herself. Yup I am talking about Beyonce! And it seems the queens fro video taped crashing a block party in the middle of New York. I thought this was soo cool since she totallly surprised this group of young kids in dressed down clothing just having fun. An the clip shows just how down to earth she really is!

This the actual Wobble dance performed by V.I.C

The Cha Cha Slide

The Cha Cha Slide was origianally written, recorded and peformed  around April 1, 1998 by Willie Perry Jr.  and was heavily inspired by the Chicago stepping movement. The Casper slide part 2 featured the Platinum Band and was recorded June 12, 1999 and is now played at numerous nightclubs all over the US and is featured as the music for step aerobic classes.

Cupid Shuffle

Cupid created the popular line dance from his song titled "Cupid Shuffle"  from his 2007 album a Time for Change. The "Cupid Shuffle is very similar to DJ Casper's Cha Cha Slide and was featured in such movies as "Jumping the Broom" and Acclaim's Dance Online. The craze has also spawned rap remixes featuring DJ Unk and Fabo.
